Recommendations & Conclusion

Recommendations:

Recommendation 1: Rock 'n' Joe should advertise more throughout Kean University and the surrounding towns. Not that many people have heard about Rock 'n' Joe unless they go to Kean University. Although Kean students have heard of it, they do not go there because they have not heard of how good it is or of any promotions it has. If they were to advertise any promotions they had, or just in general, it would get people talking about it and more people would start going there. Advertising will also help against competing with Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts.

Recommendation 2: Rock 'n' Joe should open more stores at different locations. By doing so, they will add convenience to the customer because they will not have to drive as far. They will also be able to get more advertising, through word of mouth, because more people will talk about their stores and stop in.

Recommendation 3: Rock 'n' Joe should work with the train station so they could have some parking spots for Rock 'n' Joe customers. Creating some parking spaces for customers would help draw in more customers because they would not have to park far away or pay for a spot. It adds convenience to the customer, which they will appreciate.

Recommendation 4: Rock 'n' Joe should start doing promotions. An example is a buy nine, get the tenth free card. When the customer buys nine coffees, they can get the tenth coffee free. Doing promotions could draw in more customers and generate more business for the store. Although they would be giving away a free coffee occasionally, customers would probably come in for more than a coffee. Even if they only come in for the free coffee, they still had to buy nine other ones. Also, they get used to stopping in the store and could potentially buy more.

Recommendation 5: Rock 'n' Joe should adjust to the customers' schedules and hire more employees for the lunch rush. Adjusting to the customers' schedules will add even more convenience to the customer. Hiring more employees will help decrease lines and increase customer satisfaction.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, we have learned a lot about Rock 'n' Joe and how they operate. For example, we learned how they apply the different lean systems such as the JIT philosophy, the push and pull methods, jidoka, and poka-yoke. We also learned that Rock 'n' Joe likes to maintain good quality with their products and customer service. They do not like to let the customers down, and they do everything that they can to satisfy the customer. We learned that Rock 'n' Joe has a few problems, such as not enough advertising, no parking, and that there are too few locations. We brainstormed to come up with some recommendations that could help solve their problems. They should open more stores, do more advertising, adjust to the customers' schedules, and hire more employees. Rock 'n' Joe could greatly improve their business by following these recommendations.
